Sir Alex Ferguson statue unveiled at Manchester United

Hundreds of United fans have gathered at Old Trafford to see a statue unveiled of manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

They stood in the cold with the United squad and legends including Sir Bobby Charlton, Denis Law and Eric Cantona as the 9ft-statue was revealed at a ceremony in his honour.

It has been erected outside the former North Stand, which was renamed the Sir Alex Ferguson stand last year to mark his 25th anniversary at the club.

Sir Alex looked on as the statue, creat! ed by sc ulptor Philip Jackson, was unveiled by his wife Cathy.

He said: Ive had an unbelievable journey at the club and Ive managed some great players including many who are here today. There should be a statue for all of them because they have been marvellous.

Im really proud today. Its a fantastic honour.
