Joey Barton calls Neymar the Justin Bieber of football

Pacifist, French accent impressionist, Zlatan enrager and occasional Marseille midfielder Joey Barton is no stranger to speaking his mind on Twitter. The 30-year-old took to the microblogging site on Monday night following Brazil's friendly with Russia to rekindle his dislike for Neymar.

Thanks to some outstanding performances for Santos in Brazil, the 21-year-old has accrued a worldwide following, eleven separate sponsors and the affection of a large proportion of Europe's major clubs.

Yet it has become app! arent th at the spiky-haired forward has been a little underwhelming while representing his country, particularly in Europe. He was disappointing at the Olympic Games, was nothing to write home about during the Seleo's recent friendly with England at Wembley, and he showed some laughably bad control during a below-par display on Monday.

As a result, the self-appointed voice of all football opinion in the western world has labelled the young Brazilian the "Justin Bieber of football," thanks to his long playlist of YouTube hits but lack of substance and action when mixing it with the big boys.

He then added fuel to the fire by suggesting the U14 league he once played in was a better standard than the Campeonato Brasileiro Srie A.

This isn't the first time Barton has lampooned the young striker, calling him "massively overrated" after the aforementioned England friendly. In response to that criticism, Neymar gave the best possible retort:

"I don't know who he is."

Burn. Perhaps Joey ought to start including Neymar's Twitter handle in his insults.
