Danny Welbecks brilliant turning backheel winner against Sweden

It seems to be a theme in Euro 2012 for the opposite of what's generally accepted to actually happen. Whether it's Fernando Torres and Nicklas Bendtner scoring goals, Holland unable to win or Andrei Arshavin actually playing well, it's been opposite month at Euro 12 and England's performance against Sweden further proved that.

Roy Hodgson's decision to start ponytailed lug Andy Carroll in the hopes of taking advantage of his height paid off quickly with a 23rd-minute header to give England a 1-0 lead, which disappeared in the second half when two Olof Mellberg headers (the first officially credited as a Glen Johnson own goal) within 10 minutes of each other allowed Sweden to jump ahead 2-1. Normally that would've been enough to crush England's confidence and end the game, but yet again, Euro 12 shows it doesn't work like that.

An uncharacteristic Theo Walcott blast from outside the box equalized for England in the 64th minute, just three minutes after he entered the match. Walcott again helped change the match by setting up Danny Welbeck's glorious spinning backheel in the 78th minute to stun Sweden and given England a 3-2 win.

And with one group stage match left to play, Sweden is eliminated while England sits atop the group with France as Wayne Rooney can now return from his ban.
