Velez Sarsfield celebrate goal with lit birthday candle

Last week, Neymar was shown a second yellow card and sent off for celebrating a goal by wearing an upside down mask of his ow face. On Sunday, Velez Sarsfield's Santiago Silva celebrated a goal against Newell's Old Boys by running to the touchline and retrieving a flaming candle as a birthday tribute to teammate Augusto Fernandez. He was not shown a yellow, though. And, sadly, there was not a cake attached to the candle. Which would have really been awesome.

Maybe the ref was more lenient because Silva's celebration wasn't as narcissistic as Neymar's or maybe he just has a soft spot for birthdays, but you'd think that a goal celebration that involves fire would be more frowned upon than one that utilizes a harmless plastic mask.

Anyway, I like to think that a Velez staffer was standing there with the lit candle at the ready since kickoff. Probably a good thing Silva scored in the 7th minute.
