Sporting KC players have snowball fight with fans, buy them lunch

Sporting KC striker Kei Kamara prepares to hit a small child in the face with a snowball. OK, not really.

On Wednesday night, Sporting KC's Kei Kamara tweeted an open call to join him for a snowball fight at noon the next day. On Thursday, #SpecialKCSnowmageddon went off as schedule, supported by the club and streamed live on the Internet by a local marketing firm.

Joining Sierre Leone native Kamara were teammates Jon Kempin, Matt Besler and Michael Harrington and a couple dozen fans (it was a workday, after all). Here's a look at what happened...

After everyone was was sufficiently frozen and the last accusation of packing ice in the snowballs was made, Kamara treated everyone to lunch at Chipotle. Yes, professional footballers not only had a super fun snowball fight with fans, but they even paid for everyone's lunch afterwards. Is this real life? I'm honestly not sure. But if beating Manchester United last summer wasn't enough to give you a soft spot for Sporting KC (whatever you feelings may be on that new name), this should do it.
