DTotD: Atlante winger Gringo Castro breaks his leg kicking a defender
With five minutes left to play, Atlante were losing their weekend Liga MX tie with Jaguares 3-2, having led the match 2-0. Somehow, the Cancun side mustered up two goals in the dying minutes and won the game 4-2.
The thrilling close to the match was marred by a gruesome injury to Atlante winger Jose 'Gringo' Castro. Attempting to put a cross into the box, Gringo ended up kicking defender Omar Flors' knee, snapping his own leg in the process. Clearly, Flors has the strongest kneecap in the world.
According to the Mexican press, Castro had surgery the next day and is expected to be out for three to four months.
