Poll shows majority of Real Madrid fans think Jose Mourinho bad for clubs image
Even in prosperous times, Jose Mourinho splits opinion amongst his club's own supporters. So with Real Madrid 16 points behind Barcelona midway through the season and Mourinho refusing to start beloved captain Iker Casillas in their last two matches, a poll conducted by Marca shows fan opinion is swaying more towards the negative. Even after Mourinho led the club to their first La Liga title in four years last season.
From the Guardian:
Among 704 members asked at the stadium beforeSunday's game at home to Real Sociedad, or by telephone, whether the Portuguese's actions and statements were damaging, 61.6% answered yes, with 33.1% saying no.
Members gave his performance as coach since he took over in 2010 an average mark of 6.68 out of 10, down from 8.82 in a similar poll conducted in March 2011, but 54.4% still thought he should stay on after this season, with 41.8% saying he should leave.
This won't do much to change Mourinho's approach. If anything, he gets off on people criticizing his ability and methods. Just last month, he said he would be on the pitch 40 minutes before the Madrid derby and told unhappy fans to show up and jeer him if they wanted to. And he did exactly that. So disapprove of him all you want. It only fuels his Mourinhoness.
Meanwhile, the IFFHS just named him the world's best club coach for the fourth time.
