The key to Andy Carrolls recent success is Jordan Hendersons hair gel

It's no secret that Andy Carroll's 42 performances in a Liverpool shirt this season have been largely forgettable, but his presence has been critical to success in the last two outings: he headed in a late winner in the 3-2 win over Blackburn, and his skull was also responsible for the goal that put the Anfield side through to the FA Cup Final.

So why has Carroll's cranium suddenly become so effective? Apparently it has nothing to do with discovering the form that Liverpool paid 35m to see week-in-week-out, and everything to do with borrowing his colleague's grooming products. According to Martin Kelly on Twitter, the "big AC" has borrowed teammate Jordan Henderson's hair gel in the past two games, resulting in a tamed mane and two headed goals.

If the application of hair gel directly correlates to goal scoring, that explains an awful lot about Cristiano Ronaldo's career success.
