Brazilian legend Romario has never been short on self confidence, and with a illustrious 24-year career that saw him win a World Cup and numerous domestic titles, he has every reason to feel good about himself.

Yet the 46-year-old, now a member of Brazilian congress, has anointed himself into the Holy Triumvirate of the best three players of all time, ranking himself above a certain Lionel Messi. From Brazilian newspaper O Dia vis ESPN:

"Messi is a good player, but I'm in the top three: It's me, Pele and Maradona. I would include (Zinedine) Zidane in that list, too," he said.

It's a baffling moment of self-praise, made more perplexing by the fact that he is trying to include Zidane in a top three that already contains three people. But math has never been the Brazilian's strong suit: his claims of scoring over 1,000 goals is often disputed as he included goals from youth games, friendlies and "non-official" games. By "non-official" we assume he included games against small children in his back yard and hotly-contested matches on his Xbox.
