Manchester United stay top of table for world's most valuable football 'brands'

Manchester United have kept their place at the top of the league for the world's leading footballing 'brands' despite failing to win a trophy this season.

The Brand Finance Football 50 report shows United still have the most valuable brand in the game, valued at 543m.

Rivals City have boosted their brand value by 77 per cent since last season but still rank only eighth in the league table with a brand valuation of 192m.

Champions league finalists Bayern Munich have risen to second place above Real Madrid and analysts say the German club could overtake United if it can grow international commercial revenue.

There are five English clubs in the top ten of the survey with Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool all showing a brand value of over 200m.

Brand value is calculated by estimating the value of trademarks and intellectual property associated with the football club.
