Turkish club weigh up swoop for bit-part JI-sung Park
Ji-Sung Park of Manchester United
JI-sung Park has emerged as a target for Turkish club Galatasaray.
The Turks have made no official bid for the 31-year-old Korean but they have monitored the fact that the midfielder appears to have been pushed out to the fringes of Uniteds personnel.
I havent received an official offer. It is always a good thing for a player to be wanted by a team though, said Park.
I know I cant stay in the team just because I want to, but I still harbour hopes of retiring with Manchester United.
But that ambition to see his playing days out at Old Trafford is starting to look optimistic.
Park has been Sir Alex Fergusons big-game option on many occasions because of his non-stop energy and ability to man-mark.
But during the title run-in Park was hardly used.
He captained the Reds against Athletic Bilbao in Spain when United were knocked out of the Europa League in March and, out of the blue, he was named in Fergies XI in the key title battle at the Etihad against City.
Chosen in a midfield five with the job of sticking with the Blues engine-room powerhouse Yaya Toure, the Korean struggled to contain his opponent.
The graduates of 92 have won it all now their mentor Eric Harrison tells the M.E.N. success as coaches awaits
Sneer we go: Wayne! Rooney takes swipe at Manchester City title win
The system was abandoned after 58 minutes when Park was subbed.
The derby represented only his third start of 2012 19 Premier League matches which indicated his slip down the pecking order. Galatasarays interest in a player who cost 4m in 2005 but could still command 2m, would be good business for the Reds as they look to clear the decks for newcomers.
Cover for United captain Patrice Evra at left-back is on Uniteds to do list this summer.
Reds boss Fergie has agreed to let Brazilian Fabio go out on loan for a season but that leaves no challengers for the 31-year-old Frenchman.
Evras appearance record is impressive, but his form dipped last term.
Evertons Leighton Baines has been linked with a move to Old Trafford but the England Euro 2012 squad member would be priced at around 15m and might not fancy a fight with Evra for the full-back slot.
