La Liga match abandoned after linesman bloodied by umbrella

Newly promoted Granada had just put themselves in position for a rare win after going up 2-1 on Mallorca in the 58th minute of their match on Sunday when one of their fans went and ruined it by throwing a small umbrella at a linesman. The umbrella hit the linesman in the face, leaving him bloodied and possibly with a broken cheekbone.

From Sporting Life:

Referee Clos Gomez abandoned Granada's home game with Mallorca after one of his assistants was struck by an umbrella thrown from the crowd.

Linesman Aguilar Rodriguez was lining up for a Mallorca corner when his cheek was immediately bloodied after being hit by the object.

As a result, Gomez had no hesitation in leaving the field and taking his assistants, Rodriguez and Marco Martinez, with him, abandoning the game not long after.

The umbrella appeared to be thrown from the home fans, who minutes earlier had been celebrating their side turning a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 advantage.

That's Rodriguez holding the black umbrella that hit him in the picture above.

With just two wins and four goals scored all season, Granada fans are out of practice when it comes to celebrating. And after seeing this, I think we can safely say that they're doing it wrong.

Here's a dark video that does a poor job of highlighting the fan that threw the umbrella...
