Red Bull Salzburgs Jonathan Soriano produced an impressively bad penalty kick
The Austrian Bundesliga is already underway and during Red Bull Salzburg's match against Rapid Vienna on Sunday, there was a penalty kick that might not be top in any league this season. In the 79th minute, Rapid Vienna up 2-0, Salzburg were awarded a penalty and Rapid's Stefan Kulovits was shown a yellow card for a foul in the box. Kulovits was upset with himself for giving Salzburg a golden opportunity to get back into the game and Salzburg's Jonathan Soriano stepped up to take a penalty that was awesome in its terribleness.
Soriano, who joined Salzburg from Barcelona B and is a former member of Spain's U-21 team, took an exaggerated run up to the ball and then booted it so far over the crossbar that it could've ended up in the upper deck. It was almost as if he was performing some kind of sports comedy routine and didn't want to tell anyone so as not to ruin it. If Bugs Bunny were to ever take a penalty kick, it would probably be like this.
Soriano, after all, is far better than this. Through the first four matches, he is the league's top scorer with five goals.
Rapid went on to win 2-0 and Soriano might make a point to aim for the bottom corner of the net from now on.
