Several possible reasons for Rooney dads betting scandal
Wayne Rooney's father, Wayne Sr., and uncle, plus Motherwell midfielder Steven Jennings were three of nine arrested in a betting irregularities investigation relating to a red card Jennings received in a match against Hearts last December. Bookies grew suspicious when several bets were made, include a 500 bet at 10-1 odds in Liverpool, where the Rooneys are from, on there being a red card in the match. As with last year's charges of cocaine dealing against John Terry's father, we're left to wonder why the dad of a millionaire athlete would allegedly bother taking part in such petty criminal activities. Here are several possible reasons:
-Since he has a similar hair pattern to his son, he's raising funds for a transplant just like Wayne's.
-Son's prostitutes don't pay for themselves.
-Realized that betting on a sure thing is the only way to make a non-Old Firm Scottish Premier League match interesting.
-It's early viral promotion of a new feature set for his son's FIFA 13 video game that adds an "embarrassing friends and family" component to the Be A Pro mode.
-Tired of hearing that he looks like "an older Shrek," so he wanted to be known for something else and this seemed like the best way to go.
-It's the hair thing.
-Seriously, it has to be the hair thing.
