An explanation: Why Barca players threw peppers to celebrate title

Barcelona capped off a 0-0 draw against Deportivo La Coruna at the Camp Nou by lifting the league trophy two days after their open-top bus parade and once they tired of lugging that thing around for the third straight season, the players started throwing red peppers at the fans. Wait, what?

Yes, they threw peppers. And why would they ever do that? Well, according to the excellent @BarcaStuff, "'amb dos pebrots' (with two peppers) is the Catalan, civilized version of the Spanish 'con dos cojones' (with two balls)." In other words, it means "with courage" and even became a symbol that Nike even used on the team's T-shirts for the parade.

The players weren't the only ones who had the peppers, though. A total of 16,000 were handed out to fans, which hopefully meant there were a lot of people making roasted red peppers later. Of course, Gerard Pique probably just used them as something new to bleed on.

So, there you go. That's why they threw peppers. Because throwing testicles at people is generally frowned upon.
