Cesena, Uchida show support for Japan with pre-match shirts
As the disastrous results of the earthquake and tsunami continue to wreak havoc on Japan, footballers around the world have joined everyone else in showing their support for those affected. Before Cesena battled back for a 2-2 draw against Juventus, they wore shirts that read "For The Japan" while doing their pre-match warmups. I like to think that when they fell 2-0 behind, their manager, Massimo Ficcadenti, sparked the comeback by shouting "For The Japan!!!"
Elsewhere, Schalke's Japanese defender Atsuto Uchida displayed a team polo shirt, which he used as a canvass for a hand-written message in both Japanese and German. According to Getty, it read, "Dear friends in Japan, In the hope that many lives could be saved, Let us stand together!"
Here's how it looked...
