Manchester Police tout 'Drunken Disorderly Inn' ahead of derby

Saturday's Manchester Derby has the local police trying an assortment of tactics to keep match-related drunken violence to a minimum. Some are straight forward -- like telling Man City to keep a muzzle on Carlos Tevez and asking pubs around Old Trafford to not sell alcohol. Others are a bit more creative -- like their cheeky website for the Drunken Disorderly Inn.

The site is modeled after that of a hotel -- a "premier accommodation with lots of bars" -- and features a football derby weekend special that is "specifically reserved for the moronic minority who drink to excess and get involved in violent and antisocial behaviour or take out their drink-fuelled frustrations on partners and children." The package includes a weekend stay in a "minimalist-chic" room, bans from matches and bars, possible fines and prison sentences, plus other exciting consequences that would make it a derby to remember.

In addition to funny descriptions of the rooms and rates, the site also features a guest book with testimonials like this one from an anonymous 15 year-old-girl:

"I was drunk before I left the house. By the end of the night I had wet myself and been sick. The police had to take me to hospital."

Delightful!

Sure, this site probably won't do anything to deter people who want to get sloppy an! d violen t, but it's clever and it probably gave several people something to do during a boring week of international friendlies.
