Sneijder says Benitez wanted him to play out of position

Rafa Benitez tried to blame Inter's team doctor this week for the troubles of his short stint as the club's manager and now, Wesley Sniejder is saying that if anyone was screwing things up, it was Rafa himself.

From Football Italia:

Interviewed by Algemeen Dagblad, Sneijder said: I got frustrated under Benitez He wanted me to play as a striker.

Leonardo works in the same way that Jose Mourinho did. I feel better now.

Inter have won eight of their 10 games since Benitez was dismissed.

Sneijder has also scored in his last three matches for club and country.

Well, at least Rafa didn't try to turn the treble-winning team's playmaker into a goalkeeper. He's not that inept.

Sneijder's second sentence really says it all, though. Leonardo is more like Mourinho and Rafa was not. Jose made that absolutely clear to everyone from the start by publicly berating Rafa as soon as he took the job and subsequently praising Leonardo once it was handed then handed to him. Rafa tried hard to prove he wasn't, Mourinho, too. He was even rumored to have ordered all pictures of Jose removed from Inter's training facilities.

But, as Sneijder's comments prove, Jose Mourinho once again gets the last laugh.
