DTotD: Gang kicking an opponent is frowned upon
This is hilarious and blatant and ridiculous all at once. In an Oceania U-17 Championships match between Tonga and the Cook Islands that ended 6-2 in favor of Cook Islands, it all suddenly turned into a silent movie comedy routine.
First, a member of the Tonga side awkwardly slams into the back of the Cook Islands player with the ball, then he gets up and, with the help of two teammates (lets just call them The Three Stooges), starts kicking the downed Cook Islands player in the backside, not even pretending to be going for the ball. The referee finally blows the whistles and awards a penalty, but wow. They all launch into the kicking so instinctively that it almost seems like it's something they practice in training.
Bottom line: If you go down, the Tonga U-17s will kick you like a pack of bear cubs eating a trout.
